Pitchers battle for most of the game today, as Ricky Romero and CJ Wilson seemed to match each other step for step. Romero was good, not great, as he managed to keep the Rangers scoreless into the 7th, despite a number of pitches in the dirt. And they finally caught up with him, as Texas scored their only run on a curveball that dipped too low for Jose Molina to handle. I liked seeing Cito come out and talk to him, electing to leave the young lefty in after the score, though. The manager has to show he has confidence in his players, and I think Romero will benefit from it.
Toronto had trouble scoring, being kept off the board through 8. Of course, sho should step up and finally count one but Vernon Wells, who homered to left in the 9th. That's Wells' 4th home run of this early season for those keeping track. He looks good right now. Certainly not the same player he was a year ago.
Overbay followed Wells with a triple, and the Jays always looked to grab another run ortwo from there. They did, managing to win 3-1 in the end. A solid enough closing performance from Frasor capped it off. So we've got the first series in the bag now. Just gotta move forward and take them one at a time.
